Realizing what Belos plans to do, Raine follows him in and reaches the throne room armed with a violin. Belos' voice then echoes in the room asking Raine what the heart really is; subsequently, Belos emerges from the cracks on the ground and envelopes Raine in sludge as Belos' main body crawls to the heart.

Truly afraid, the Collector apologizes and shows empathy, causing him to cry for the first time over the chaos he has created and reacts in confusion to the tears he is producing. Although I don’t have any proof, I believe if I hadn’t seen the trailer, although it wouldn’t change the latter issue, it may have made the pacing feel better, as everything would be new. Also, What Nightmare Amity and Willow say to Luz doesn’t carry as much weight as Gus and Hunter’s conversations with her. The latter two make much more sense, as, in a way, they’re true.

He has acquired the ability to empower the glyphs again, creating a new language of glyph magic for Luz to master. In the ruins of the castle, Raine, Eda, and King pop out from the ash unharmed. Nearby, Luz looks on as the remnants of Belos' sludge slowly reconstruct into the form of Philip Wittebane, as he was when he first met Luz. In a last-ditch attempt at deception, "Philip" expresses gratitude, claiming that he was afflicted by a horrible curse from dark magic, attributing his actions to its influence warping his sense of right and wrong. Nonetheless, "Philip" insists that all he wants now is to make peace with her. As he says this, rain clouds form above them and the boiling rain starts melting "Philip" while Luz is unharmed.

The pacing was great, the animation beautiful, and the story and its conclusion were so satisfying. As usual with my reviews, to make things easier, I will be discussing the episode in order from beginning to end. As one last surprise, King reveals the Collector was in the area and wanted to do something special for Luz.
In the episode "Echoes of the Past", King is revealed to not be the king of demons. Eda found him as a toddler on an island, being watched over by a strange amorphous creature that she managed to evade. While raising him, she unintentionally convinced him he was the King of Demons. King then sends Luz and her friends away to the Human Realm to protect them from the Collector's games.[16] As he spends time with the Collector as his chosen playmate, King comes to understand that he is misguided rather than malicious and discourages Eda and Lilith from attempting to reimprison him. Belos is taking over The Titan, growing an enormous monster form out of the flesh, with which he begins blasting the Isles with magic. This beam is what the group is hiding from when they arrive at the castle.
It’s a fun, funny and heartfelt series that celebrates individuality, family, kindness and creativity set in a creepy, vibrant world.
